Students are Individuals?

Have a look at Sean “The Bass Player” post Think Different at Students 2.0. Yet another plea for treating students individually.

If artists and business leaders agree that the current educational system doesn’t allow enough individuality and teach students enough ability to innovate and apply knowledge in new situations, who else is there to convince?

Modeling

Check out Bud the Teacher’s Open Letter. He mentions modeling which I think is so important. “Do as I say, not as I do” just doesn’t work. Its why we have our Institute.

Student Bill of Rights

Look at the Student Bill of Rights over at Mark Pullen’s The Elementary Educator.  I find it interesting how some things are worded, particularly the one on student choice. I think we need to make a much stronger statement than the equivocal one Mark makes. I also suggest “All students have the right to be treated respectfully as individuals.”

What do you think is missing?
